Columbia River Slough
This project explores the Columbia River Slough through black-and-white images that are meticulously hand-colored using digital process. Inspired by the traditional technique of hand-coloring, I aimed to blend the nostalgia of the past with the modern possibilities of digital art. The Slough, originally designed to control flooding, was no longer needed after dams were constructed. Hand coloring black-and-white photographs is also no longer necessary. Both were practical, and both now exist solely for beauty. The project invites viewers to see the landscape in a fresh, artistic way, connecting the historical with the present.
